As of this writing, only members of the following Workspace editions have access to the feature:

  • Essentials

How to Enable Q&A in a Google Meet Session

Google Meet automatically turns on the Q&A feature for all Workspace editions, except Google Workspace for Education users. If you’re on the Education plan, enable the feature if you plan to use it during the meeting. However, you don’t need to allow Q&A initially; you can do so anytime during the session.

We will show you how to enable the Q&A feature on the web, Android and iOS.

How to Enable Google Meet's Q&A Feature on Web

Here’s how to enable Q&A in your meeting on the web:

  1. Launch the meeting.
  2. Tap the Activities button.
  3. Select Q&A from the pop-up menu.

  1. Tap the three-dot menu at the bottom.
  2. Select Activities from the pop-up.
  3. Tap Q&A under the Activities tab.
  4. On Android, toggle on Allow questions to enable the Q&A feature. Instead, if you use an iPhone, tap Turn on Q&A.

As soon as you enable the feature, Google Meet will notify meeting participants, “Q&A is now open.” This will allow anyone in the meeting to ask questions.

How to Ask Participants Questions in Google Meet

Once the Q&A feature is on, you can start asking participants questions during the meeting. To ask questions via the Q&A feature, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the three-dot menu at the bottom.
  2. Select Activities > Q&A and tap Ask a question.
  3. Enter your question and tap Post to finish.

Google Meet will let everyone in the meeting know if there’s a question. To respond to a question, you can do so verbally or use the chat feature. This isn’t as intuitive as on Zoom, where you can directly respond to a question.

Answering and Managing Questions in Google Meet

As a moderator, you have control over the whole meeting. You can upvote a question, delete it, hide it or mark it as answered. On Google Meet Android and iOS, you can only upvote and delete a question. You’ll have to use a laptop or PC to use all four features.

To upvote a question, tap the Upvote button and to delete, tap the trashcan icon > Remove. As a moderator, you can delete anyone’s question in Google Meet. But if you’re a meeting participant, you can only delete your question(s).

As a moderator, Google Meet will email you the full report once the meeting is over. It will include all the questions asked during the session and the names of those who asked them, including deleted ones. If you want to hide a question, tap the eye icon. Tap the mark icon to mark a question as answered.
